Customer Service

We have a full time customer service staff dedicated to helping your employees on a year round basis. We like to take care of your employees even after the enrollment period has ended. Your employees can call one phone number and speak to a live person to answer their questions. Our customer service section can accommodate Spanish speaking employees and are available to answer questions and to assist with filing claims, billing, deductions and general benefit questions.

About Our Team

Jim Ward – CEO

Jim began his education at Princeton University before transferring to the US Military Academy at West Point. After graduation Jim served in the Army and worked as a financial consultant and CFP. In 1981, Jim and his wife Patty started Ward Services with a vision to help employees secure their financial future by offering high quality insurance products at their worksite with affordable premiums, automatically deducted from their paycheck. Under Jim's guidance, Ward has grown from a two person operation to a national company employing over 100 people throughout the United States. Ward Services has developed a national reputation as a specialist in benefits communication and enrollment of core and voluntary plans for the retail industry, school districts, state agencies, health care industry and manufacturing. As the founder of Ward Services, Jim has participated in every role in the company during their 30-plus years of business; from marketing, technology, enrolling, HR to sales, Jim has worn many hats. Jim currently heads up sales for Ward Services and continues to grow the company's client list.

Jeff Muir – COO

Jeff first started working with Ward Services as a Benefits Counselor in college during breaks. Upon graduating from Davidson College Jeff was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. After an honorable discharge upon completing his active duty commitment, Jeff immediately joined his family’s firm, Ward Services. With Ward full-time for almost 20 years Jeff has hands-on experience with every aspect of the business. Jeff is responsible for all the day-to-day operations of Ward Services, outside sales presentations as well as strategic planning for the future of the company. In his role Jeff has direct involvement with existing clients to identify new ways to provide value added services or to improve upon existing services.

Randy Nolff – IT Director

A member of the Ward Services team since 2011, Randy joined Ward after retiring from the SC Budget and Control Board with 28 years of service. Randy began his career in IT with the Board in 1983 after graduating from Midlands Technical College. Working for the Board in a variety of IT roles, Randy’s work eventually focused on the State Insurance Benefits systems, where he became the IT Manager. During this time he oversaw the development of Employee Benefits Services (EBS), the Benefits Administrator portal for enrolling new hires and making status changes in the state’s main database. Following the successful launch of EBS, Randy oversaw the creation of MyBenefits, an online portal designed to allow state employees to make their own open enrollment changes, creating a paperless, automated enrollment system. In his role at Ward, Randy is responsible for managing the systems used to enroll clients’ core and voluntary benefits, as well as overseeing the development of training materials for Benefits Counselors and the case planning needed to execute a successful enrollment.

Greg Hixson – Case Planning

A graduate of the University of SC, Greg has been with Ward Services since 2007. Prior to joining Ward, Greg was a Project Manager for Spirit Telecom. During his time with Ward, Greg has been involved in many aspects of the company’s operation from sales and implementation, improving internal process flow, to trouble shooting and solving technical issues. In his role at Ward, Greg is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day operations as it relates to customer service and case planning. Greg prides himself on being available to resolve any issues or questions for Ward clients and enjoys the challenges that come with the job.

Karen Sanders – Training Director

Karen began her career in SC State Benefits over 25 years ago as an Insurance Counselor for the SC State Government. During her time with the state she worked as a Field Services Manager, traveling throughout SC explaining benefits and training Benefit Administrators. She also served as a Customer Service Manager, responsible for supervising the Subscriber and Benefits Administrator's Call Centers. Before retiring, she worked as an assistant to the Chief Operating Office resolving issues with all political and appointed authorities and providing expertise regarding interpretation of rules polices and eligibility. Karen puts her expansive knowledge of SC State benefits to good use in her position as Ward Services Training Director. Since joining Ward in 2011, Karen has been responsible for creating training modules designed to ensure Ward Benefits Counselors are experts on the benefits they are enrolling. This includes online and on-site training, as well testing for each Benefits Counselor.
